Therapy

The introduction of Botulinum toxin means that disorders can be alleviated in up to 60% of cases. Logopedic therapy can have a useful additive effect in severe speech and swallowing disorders through the improvements achieved by means of training in speech and swallowing. Dietary advice can be very useful for those with swallowing disorders. Aids for patients worst affected can be gastric tubes or speaking computers. The use of a speaking computer is particularly appropriate where the hands too are affected by dystonia.
