Therapy

60-90% of cases of cervical dystonia can be treated symptomatically successfully at specialist centers with the injection of Botulinum toxin.

Because of the conspicuous position of the head, many of those affected withdraw from public life, often lose their self-confidence and then develop psychiatric illness as a result of their spasmodic torticollis. Patients can find help and further information in spasmodic torticollis self-help groups.
